Stress Illness

Key to my work is the understanding and incorporation of the underlying psychological and emotional causes of disease, which are underpinning so many of our physical disorders today, notably chronic pain.

After undertaking extensive training in the field of mindbody medicine, I am registered as a SIRPA practitioner in the UK.

SIRPA – Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association  – is the UK branch of a worldwide group of doctors, research and health professionals, who are working together, to develop this revolutionary and cutting edge form of medicine.

These conditions can be helped effectively by accurate diagnosis and treatment of the underlying psychological and emotional issues. This approach is based on published research and careful clinical observation.

How we Work / What we do

Prior to consultation, we first request that you see your GP to rule out any serious disease, Very often, where stress illness is involved, scans and screens will fail to find anything wrong, or will be inconclusive and this strengthens the likelihood that your symptoms could be caused by stress and may respond well to this approach.

It begins with an initial stress check-up consultation, where I consult you about your life and make an appraisal of the primary sources of stress in your life. My training allows me to work like a detective, correlating specific stress factors directly to your presenting sign or symptom and then working together with you, to devise a strategy aimed at resolving these issues.

Running in parallel to the consultation sessions SIRPA also provides a structured, self-empowering online treatment programme, designed to give the patient additional support to assist in their recovery.

Acupuncture, as a holistic medicine with many mental and emotional benefits, complements the SIRPA work very well, helping you deal with the manifestations of the illness, supporting your overall constitution, helping you cope better and allow for faster progress and resolution.
